【言葉】
A dillar, a dollar:ヨークシャーの言い方で「頭の回転が遅い男の子」という意味だそうです。ちょっとキツイ言葉です。
dilatory（遅れがちな） and dullard（頭の鈍い人、物分かりの悪い人、うすのろ）から来ていると考えられる。またThe Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes by Iona and Peter Opie (Oxford, OUP, 1951) によるとdilly-dally（ぐずぐずする、のらくらする、遅延する、時間を浪費する）という表現と関係があるとも考えられるそうです。
